Hartman's work carries with it a deep and focused interest in the qualities of sound. Originally commissioned by Swedish National Radio, these two compositions (coming in at a little under an hour) represent some of the most interesting Post-Concrete composition to be heard this year. Hartman takes time to let the various aspects of her mix come to light. She unravels her soundscapes with a skilful charm that is both imaginative and commanding. The middle sections of 'Longitude 013 26' E', switch and shift between lush bubbling water at the shore of a lake, to stirring low end ruptures. 'Cratere' carries a similar power and sense of flow. There's never a sense of stasis here, and both compositions act as a timely reminder to the powerful nature of radio as an evocative and overlooked medium.
