She creates an aural inter-space, that rises above the banality of everyday noise, while it refuses immediate access to the musically conditioned ear. It is difficult not to associate the flutter in&nbsp;<i>Messages from the Lighthouse</i>&nbsp;with a bird, even though it is quite clear that this bird doesn't exist. Instead this passage is more about the "par excellency" of the flap itself, about a form of listening that transcends the object by the means of sound, about a jumpy and dry tremolo as an aural entity of its own. From this entity then a music arises, that is charged with meaning, but that obliterates the deixis of the concrete sound by completely abstracting it. This release is focusing on the research for a way to actually hear the sun, the exploration of the borders between instrument and phonogram, and the role as a musician or a listener. For the transformation of sunlight into sound Mats Björk have constructed a solar cell powered and controlled tone generator. This is packaged in a standard CD-jewel case to give it the feel and the attributes of a phonogram. <br><br>Connected to a pair of headphones, you one can choose to listen to one of the two parts this composition basically consists of. With the lid open, the circuit (that also makes out the musical score) with its oscillators, is carefully tuned for broad daylight to capture the intense piercing and powerful energy, here manifested in the mantra of a clear but uncertain six tone chord. Slowly shifting in pitch as the sun wanders the sky and occasionally hides behind a small cloud, this part of the composition lets you sink in to the relations between the tones themselves and between light and tone.<br><br>By more actively interacting with the sun, or exploring the sounds of artificial light, the piece moves into its more chaotic experimental phase and you as a listener approach the role of the musician. Like zooming in on the exploding fire bursts of the solar surface, the experience of minimal noise clusters, related to all kinds of light, is revealed.<br><br>Mats Björk (b.1975, Huskvarna, Sweden) is a sound artist with a past in large variety of constellations and styles, now exploring sound and music under the banner "free composition". Sound of the Sun is the third edition in the Komplott maginot series of releases. This serie began in 2008 with the project Very Friendly by Ronnie Sundin, catalog number maginot03 and maginot07. The Maginot releases is meant to serve as a side-track of the labels traditional publishing with the intention of presenting music in a way that differs from traditional publishing forms. an album that was created during the same deep dive into the archives
that produced the recent “Seven Year Silence” CD (issued by Fang Bomb)
but has a very different personality. This is a much more subdued
affair revisiting the same material that was recorded for the mp3 album
Solsting and some of the last recordings made at the legendary The
Cabin studio as well as other locations during the years 2000-2004&nbsp; -
making this the final document of Sundin’s more quiet half of this
decade. What separates this album from his earlier ones from this era
is that it is of a somewhat more improvised and fragile nature although
the sounds are&nbsp; still carefully composed.<br>
<br>
Sunspots is a very
limited edition LP with hand made covers released in 50 copies only.
All the images on the cover are linoleum cuts created and printed by
Sundin himself (and there are also two bonus prints included that
presents two figures that didn't exactly inspire the music but can be
seen as clues of something to come later...) and all the text were

    There is a new comic in town... called <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;">Very Friendly</span> and it is a creation of yours truly, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;">Ronnie Sundin</span>. The idea for this comic came about in late 2002 (when i was&nbsp;


sketching
out ideas for a planned large scale art project called The History Of
Electronic Music which was centered around the idea of making portraits
of friends, colleagues and historical figures who were electronic music
makers) - and it happened in the shape of a quick sketch on the idea of
a comic on the life and works of <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;">Pierre Schaeffer</span>.&nbsp;<br><br>Shortly
afterwords the project ended up in hibernation but in 2004 i made an
exhibiton at Cirkulationscentralen in Malmö &nbsp;(Sweden) featuring 50 ink
drawings that later on were collected with additional material in the
book <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;">The History Of Electronic Music</span>&nbsp;(that was published by art book publishing house noCube<a href="http://www.nocube.com/"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"></span></a> in collaboration with record label Häpna<a href="http://www.hapna.com/"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"></span></a>
in 2007. ) which also turned out to be a bit more realistic realisation
of the large scale project inlcuding life size sculptures, paintings
and projections that i had in mind at first...<br><br>Early in 2008, however, i had a meeting with Maximilian Moulettes who is the head of the record label Komplott<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"></span>
here in Malmö and he approached me with an offer to produce a comic
magazine for his label which puzzled me at first but after a while i
realised that this was an opportunity to bring the old Pierre comic
idea into life. Shortly after that it also dawned upon me that i wanted
to expand the story on all the characteres that were in the above
mentioned book in the shape of a comic and there you have the basic
plan for <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;">Very Friendly</span>! Back in 2002 i had also made some sketches for a autobiographical comic on my first visit to Trondheim to meet the , ahem... <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">legendary Lasse Marhaug</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"> </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="">which in it's finished form will be included in the first issue.<br><br></span>


In 2003 i made an autobiographical chapter on a trip to Los Angeles and the people i met there in 1999.&nbsp;

Andreas Bertilssons alltid vackra musik, den här gången gjord i
samarbete med Thomas Öberg från Bob Hund, är här mer mänsklig och
kontaktsökande, mer fantasibefriande och tankemasserande än någonsin,
mer än tidigare i kontakt med både det förflutna och det nutida. Den
erbjuder en av de där allt mer hägrande platserna; rummet där det finns
plats för ens tankar och ens ifrågasättande av samma tankar. De där
rummen där man kan ställa frågorna som i bästa fall leder oss framåt,
inte bakåt, är ju numera så sällsynta. <br>
<br>
Men musiken på Andreas album ger oss en liten katedral omsorgsfullt
byggd i en dator av plast och könlöst teknik-hokus pokus, fylld av ljus
och luft och en rumskänsla man nästan kan ta på. Svensk jazztradition
möter den skiraste av skira knister/knaster-elektronik, poesin kastar
sig i famnen på rocken. Det är en alldeles självklar, men nästan
överrumplande skönhet som bjuds. Det är som när man talar med en person
i telefon och man hör att personen är friskt solbränd, snyggt nyklippt
eller inbjudande naken – man stiger in i Andreas musik och man hör i
ett enda magiskt slag att framtiden är mättad av stora löften och
väldigt sköna drömmar om det okända.<br>

Hartman creates compositions that are exclusively made up from
authentic sounds which she has recorded around the world. Sounds are
taken out of their original context and thus perceived in their purity.
Hanna Hartman seeks to reveal hidden correspondences between the most
diverse auditive impressions, and in new constellations she creates
extraordinary worlds of sound.<br>
<br>
The new album is built out of four shorter pieces composed during
2003-2006. Compared to the large compositions of her earlier albums
this music shows another side of Hanna Hartman's work. The album opens
with "Att fälla grova träd är förkippat med risker" (The felling of
tall trees entails danger.) that was commissioned by Rikskonserter and
which received several prizes, first and foremost the prestigious Karl
Sczuka Prize in 2005. Hanna Hartman is also working with installations
and sound performances and is currently Composer in Residence at
Sveriges Radio 2007–2008.<br>

The cd is made in co-operation with EMS, Rikskonserter, and Reviews of "Att fälla grova träd är förknippat med risker". <br>

"Hanna Hartman's highly concentrated sound composition is determined by
the two motifs hinted at in the title of felling and falling. The
presentation of the material, as if through an aural magnifying glass,
makes the sounds loose their unambiguous indentifiability; they become
ambiguous, begin to shimmer and, released from their semantic context,
develop a musical life of their own. The piece acquires its cohesion
through an extreme economy of structure: the aperiodic sequences are
attached one to the other in hard cuts with precisely measured breaks.
An intense, physically demanding sound experience which continually
tests the listener's aural perception and the clarity of which remains
unsettling." <br>

house where I was staying to finish the production of Paramount. It was
the culmination of several months work.<br>
I began outlining the album in the fall of 2005 with the objective of
describing society and the present while still trying to anchor it to
something timeless and continuous that could be linked to any one
period in time. Based on a linear schedule of events I then stipulated
rules and guidelines for my musical process.<br>
The following months were cursed with severe computer breakdowns which
delayed the development of my musical tools. Meanwhile I started
working with DAT and devoted the remainder of that spring to work my
way through the massive checklist of sound components based on my
schedule of events.<br>
In May, I got stuck once again and to be able to continue I was forced
to erase large parts of my project that was decelerating the work flow.
I abandoned my notes and started working more freely and rapidly along
a rough initial topographic sketch, and at the end of the summer the
music was almost complete – one comprehensive 30 minute piece.<br>
Early that fall I went out to the countryside to put the final touches
to the album. As it turned out, the house where I was staying was
haunted, and the spiritual activity increased as the work progressed.
Footsteps, doors that suddenly opened, traces of EVP in my recordings
and an overall intensed atmosphear affected my appearance in the house.
After two weeks I couldn't take it anymore and felt I was about to lose
my mind. I packed my equipment and fled. The album was finally finished
in Malmoe shortly thereafter, as far as I know without any interference
from the spiritual world.<br>

    The experimental music group Ett Skepp has recently finalized several years

of sonic research resulting in their first soundscape.


Ett Skepp consists of Jonas Bulow and Mathias Josefson,  both holding MSc

degrees in Computer Science at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH),

Stockholm, Sweden. Together they have explored generative algorithms in the

field of sound creation and manipulation. After three years of extensive

work at different locations in Stockholm, the initial release called Kommer

lastat, has now been completed.


The project started in early 2003 at the Institute for Electroacustic Music in

Sweden (EMS), Stockholm, and continued at the Royal Institute of Technology

with live performances at Fylkingen, Stockholm, and at the open air theater

in Rålambshovsparken, Stockholm.


Phase patterns and methods of evolution were the main instruments to

generate sound structures. Driving forces were to explore the impact of

generative methods and pattern interactions in a predefined parameter space.

The implementation framework was continuously updated given the feedback

from the evolving system.


Sound structures were rendered into concrete sound materials using

transformations in the analogue and digital domains. The material was

classified and grouped into separate sets, categorized according to

similarities found in the animal kingdom. The final assembly was based on

self-contained ecology systems where animals interacted according to given

set of rules.

Swedish sound artist Hanna Hartman. Until now the two compositions of
the album, "Longitude 013° 26’ E" and "Cratere", which were originally
commissioned pieces for the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation and
Deutschland Radio Berlin, have only been available to the public as
radio broadcasts. The music is not dependent on the medium of radio
however, but consists of concrete sounds composed as independent
pieces. The material of the piece Cratere partly consists of recordings
of the Italian volcano Etna, whereas much of the material on Longitude
013° 26’ E - a longitude which runs through Berlin, Kap Arkona and the
Baltic Sea - was recorded on sailing boats. The album cover is to be
interpreted as a commentary between map and terrain, an abstraction
which points to the difference between the origin of the sounds and its
musical form. The terrain can be conceived through the map, the map
through the knowledge and experiences which arise from the relation
between the two. Hanna Hartman has received several awards for her
music such as the recent Svenska Författarförbundet Radiopris (Swedish

been active within the experimental electronica scene since the mid
90's. He has an extensive catalogue of concerts and sound installations
in Sweden in particular, as one of the main artist behind the Starfield
Simulation events and Laika projects in Malmö. He creates a stubborn
sound scape from a sprawling material, taken from diverse sources such
as found objects, damaged instruments, everyday environments and
electronically treated sounds. Through these inputs Kurtsson lets an
awkward groove emerge. <br>
<br>
This is his own words on his music:<br>
"I depict the music as a number of individual sounds that play
together, but remain deaf to each other. This creates a groove that is
seasick and harsh, but still poppy. The music ranges from soothing calm
to manic cacophony. The sounds come from both electronic and acoustic
sources, and if the listener is unsure about their origin that is only
positive. I hover between just organising different sound sources and
more actively shaping them. When the sounds are edited and modulated I
keep things simple in an effort to turn focus to the sound itself, more
than to achieve some kind of highly skilled handicraft. Where
minimalism turns stupid I've found a space where I can work with
repetitions, translations, randomness, interferences, overloads,
stories and the infantile. The trick is to be uncomfortable in
different conventions but still trying to remain curious towards them.

between acoustic sounds, field-recordings and digitally processed
material introduced on the debut album "Face Takes Shape". The result
is a transparent and poetic work where the sound and the timing itself
is everything. Behind every manoeuvre there is a decision.<br><br>
In Bertilsson's musical works we find contrasts between the digital and
the analogue, between nature and urban life and between chance and
structure. The first track on the album is more closely linked to the
debut album with its intense atmosphere, while the following tracks are
more freeform and present a more elaborate use of wood- and metal
sounds and processed instruments like the guitar and the clarinet.
Lingering and tentative tones mixed with swift attacks of sound unite,
form a structure and then deconstruct to start all over again. The
seemingly simple grows into complex musical compositions full of
detail, of precise and restrained intensity where silence form a
balance between disturbances and tranquillity, the surreal and the
ordinary.<br><br>
The music of "The Bird You Never Were" is, despite its abstractedness,
bare, personal and direct. The sounds create a state which forms a
direct link to body and memory. Bertilsson creates a personal renewal
of his musical experiences from composers such as Morton Feldman,
Lars-Gunnar Bodin, Mamoru Fujieda, Akemi Ishijima, Jimmy Giuffre and
Talk Talk. A poetic soundscape takes shape where the sounds could be
seen as separate objects, focused timbres where every movement is

technique of musical story telling, a search which seems to be founded
in a sort of restlessness or maybe a mise en cause of those simple and
solidly established parameters which have been established in
instrumental and conventional popular music. Appelqvist mainly derives
his particular form of musical story telling from feature film, where
the music is paralleling the story so as to amplify it or comment it.
It is in this form, where sound and image converge, that Appelqvist is
conducting his search for unexpected emotional expressions.<br><br>Bremort
is the name of a fictitious city where the listener takes part in
scenes in the lives of the people of this average Swedish town. The
album has no comprehensive theme but is rather built up around several
small episodes, which have nothing in common other than the fact that
they all take place in this same fictitious city during a limited
period of time. The depictions are accompanied by different musical
themes in which the beige existence of some of the inhabitants of
Bremort are portrayed and linked together in recurrent intermezzos. As
such Bremort is in a way a place of refuge, a sanctuary for the
commonplace.<br><br>Appelqvist's music infuses the debate on the
musical qualities of music. The newness of his acoustic image, where
the choice of sounds are not always evident or natural in there
context, makes the listener react, certain musical nuances might
generate strong emotions while others leaves the listener indifferent.
The same is true for Appelqvist's scheme of using untrained,
hand-picked voices, a device which by many might be construed as
provocative. It raises the question of whether we are actually
listening to music and/or taking part in a staging. The crude voices
are intimately interlinked through the underlying narrative and bring a
dimension of agitation on top of the melancholy and suggestive coulisse

    I started to play on my three favourite stainless steel kitchen bowls.
The small one, the flat one and the two-toned bowl/dish hybrid. Then I
improvised the other instruments around them and to the memory of those
sounds. The traditional instruments had to be retuned to match the
unequal temperament of the bowls.

Kärrsilja is a dark green marsh plant with small white flowers in
parasol shaped clusters. Flock-flowery!

Swedish newcomer Son of Clay. All 11 tracks on his highly personal
first album is composed solely of samples retrieved from his apartment,
the stairwell, the balcony etc. All those simple sounds of everyday
life - reshaped, deconstructed and reassembled, often distorted beyond
recognition - make out the elements which have been put together to
form complete entities of sound. Those noises of everyday life - the
buzzing, the humming, squeak, creak, rasping and clinking - work
together to create strange and mystical melodies and progressive
rhythms. <br>
Soundartist and "electroreformer" Andreas Bertilsson has a masterdegree
in Fine Arts and his base in Berlin where he has been working with
soundsculpturing and sound installations. He has previously appeared on
the Starfield Simulation compilation and the Starfield Simulation
Series on the Komplott label. Face takes Shape is something of a
self-portrait. Through those banal sounds of everyday life we sense the
contours of a person, the author himself.<br>

With his debut album Son of Clay takes his position among the
avantgarde of modern, experimental electronica. Bounding for the future
with his distinctive, suggestive, melancholy sound though concurrently
recognizing the historical journey of electronic music - from the

performance was both physical and visual in a way whitch one can only imagine when listening

After many a late night/early mornings spent wide eyed and bushy tailed in front of the laptop, it came to me. I had been listening to folk music to get me through my annual winter hibernation. Folks like Jackson C. Frank, Nico, Tim Buckley, Donovan, Simon and Garfunkel, Collin Blunstone, Al Stewart, John Fahey, Bert Jansch, Kris Kristofferson, who along with Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, jr. and Willie Nelson made the crossover from Country to Folk many times over. I realized it was my duty to pay tribute to the folk pioneers. I heard chords, riffs, melodies and broke them down into textures, and processed these sounds creating sad, melancholy and hopeful minimalistic, ambient compositions with a touch of the folk aesthetic. <span lang="en-GB">Since
1997</span><span lang="en-GB">,
Greg Malcolm and Chad Mossholder have been performing their glitchy,
dark, ambience around the region with such artists as Oval, Thomas
Brinkmann, Mouse on Mars etc. Their debut CD, Reference, gained them
wider attention. Both Greg and Chad collaborate on studio projects,
and they have a kind of post-modern digital age working relationship.

<br><br>Circulation
is Twine first release
since the much appreciated 12", "Immediate Action"
output on Hefty records. The Twinesound is a structure meets noise
vs. melody sound, voices,&nbsp;strings, clicks, distortion, metallic
sounds, manipulated samples and other just plain sounds. It's an
assembly between Steve Reich,&nbsp;Cage, Stockhausen and the
forefront of today's&nbsp;electronic music.

<br>This
is&nbsp;an essential
release not only because the way they they're able to produce complex
sonic sensations, but also because they compose soulful and
contemplative arrangements.

Andréas Tillander has been composing music for almost ten years this
LP represents his debut release except for his current appearance on
the Merc compilation &amp;gt;Squadron&amp;lt;. He started composing his music

arranged through computer software together with modern digital

German imprint Raster-Noton and a appearance on a forthcoming Fat Cat

debut album is the first release on the new Swedish based alternative
label Komplott. This debut album from Figurera, recorded on different
locations in Sweden during 1997 and early 1999, is a broad collection
of tracks ranging from noise and experimental beats to pure melodies
inspired by modern classical music. Almost every track on the
record has a different approach. Some tracks are based upon samples
from everyday objects as in the track “MZw”. This track is
completely arranged of samples from a standard PC printer. Other
track's on the album differs quite much from these sample
arrangements. These tracks are based on more advanced polyphonic
clusters to very simple melodies and arrangements. This variation
makes this debut album different, aiming at discovering new
approaches to electronic music.The
record is currently pressed on vinyl only limited to
